Advanced Search Tips

When you search on a word, e.g. 'abbaye', we will automatically search across everything we store about a record. But, sometimes you may wish to be more specific. Here we show you how.

Simple search on a specific category

  • Some examples :

    • title:abbaye search abbaye in the title
    • author:hieronymus search hieronymus in the author (Hieronymus as well as Frank, Hieronymus will be find)
    • callNumber:1100.4 search for the call number 1100.4
    • subject:belgique search belgique in the subjects
    • serie:subsidia search subsidia in the series field

Exact match

  • Use the quotes " "

    • title:"catalogue de manuscrits"
    • author:"frank, hieronymus"
    • callNumber:"R Theol Fo-20"
    • subject:"catalogue de manuscrits"

Other tips

  • Use the Boolean Operators (AND, OR, NOT or AND NOT) Note: by default, the search will use "AND" in your query. The query 'abbaye citeaux' will search for both words in the record.

Some examples with Boolean operator :

    • serie:"subsidia hagiographica" AND author:dolbeau find the resource where Dolbeau is author in the serie Subsidia hagiographica
    • subject:iconographie AND subject:"Maria Deipara" find resource about the iconographia of Maria Deipara
    • Bible AND publicationYear:1810 search subsidia in the series field
    • subject:martyrologe AND NOT subject:"martyrologe d'usuard" find resource with "martyrologe" as subject, but not "martyrologe d'Usuard"
    • museon AND NOT type:journal find resource with museon, that are not a journal
    • callNumber:"R Hagiog B-337" OR callNumber:"R Hagiog B-336" find resource with either call number
    • sort_callNumber:["R Hagiog A-1" TO "R Hagiog B-215"] find resource from one call Number to the other
  • publicationYear:[1500 TO 1600] all the resource from 1500 to 1600
  • Use the asterisk to truncate you search :

    • title:manuscrit* find : manuscrit, manuscrits, manuscritos, … in the title
